How Many Exams Do You Need for CompTIA A+?

CompTIA A+ requires passing two separate exams: Core 1 (220-1101) and Core 2 (220-1102). You must pass both to earn the A+ certification. You can take them in any order, though most people start with Core 1.

Core 1 (220-1101) covers hardware and technical skills: mobile devices, networking, hardware troubleshooting, virtualization, and cloud computing. It has up to 90 questions and a 90-minute time limit. The passing score is 675 out of 900.

Core 2 (220-1102) focuses on software and operations: operating systems, security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. It also has up to 90 questions in 90 minutes with a passing score of 700 out of 900. Note that Core 2 has a slightly higher passing threshold. Each exam costs $358, bringing the total to $716 for both vouchers at retail price.
